WINTER EXPLORATION
BYUL-BAM FAMILY'S EXPLORATION RECORD
Interview with Byul-Bam family who enjoy exploring nature.
Q. How have you been since you and Byul-Bam filmed with us?
A. Back then, we were busy looking at autumn leaves, but now we are busy hunting snow fields! As we spend more time outside concrete walls with Byul and Bam, we realize how fast nature changes.
Q. You sent me pictures of you with Byulbam in a great place. What made you enjoy outdoor activities with Byul-Bam?
A. I thought it would be more fun if the routes for daily walks were diverse. We went for our first deviant walk to a nearby mountain instead of the park we usually go to. Seeing Bam smelling and running around there so excitedly, I decided to plan a longer hiking trail. Now we feel like that mountain is a small course that only takes 30 minutes round trip. That's how we got into outdoor activities.
Q. What was the most memorable moment with Byul-Bam?
A. Two weeks in Ulleung-do, where Bam, Byul, and Haru, the youngest ones I miss, all camped together, were the most memorable. The four of us played in the vast snowy field for a few hours. I was touched because I felt that they trusted and relied on me while we lived in a rough outdoors for a long time. I experienced a bond with my dogs.
Q. Please tell me the necessary equipment that you take with your dogs for an expedition.
A. First, safety-related equipment is the most important. I always packed several medical sets of kinesiology tapes, bandages, antiseptic sprays, and ointment into the car and backpacks. The second is clothing. Dogs, as well as humans, should wear proper gear for outdoor activities. Some people think that dogs do not need any extra clothing because they have fur, but unlike humans, dogs are prone to getting hurt by thorn bushes and seeds because they do not have hands to hold ropes or avoid obstacles. They are also dangerous if their bodies get wet and feel cold, or if they are exposed to sunlight for a long time. Since it is impossible to communicate with dogs in human language, we recommend that you prepare safe dog supplies.
Q. Have you experienced any inconvenience during outdoor activities with Byul-Bam?
A. I was uncomfortable with some people's negative views. I always follow petiquette to make a good impression on people. This is because outdoor activities with pets are still unfamiliar to them. Nevertheless, it bothers me a lot when I encounter someone with an unprovoked dislike of dogs. Regardless of the preference for dogs, manners toward humans with dogs are basic human-to-human skills, but some people seem to forget this.
Q. How about your first impression of LHAKEN?
A. I have been looking at overseas communities and purchasing products from the U.S. or European countries since 6 years ago when outdoor gear exclusively for dogs was rare. I had to rely on overseas brands because there were no domestic brands that specialized in outdoor goods for pets, but I'm very happy to see LHAKEN's launch in Korea.Photo by @starrysispaws
